Ok, so i brought the KAD brackets thought i could fit them in a flash, got it all apart went to wind in the bolts and one stripped on me going into the face of the subframe. Has anybody got any good ideas other than helicoiling, cause when i tried that it pushed the bolt of the welds, so now i'm stuck??? Subframe out? Could i drop it enough just un-doing the front mounts? I don't have a rear panal in if that makes a difference......i want to try and avoid bleeding breaks and things?

Bleeding breaks sucks. It's much better with a regular tea break. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |

you could get away without taking the subframe off, just take the mounting bracket off. you could make a small hole in the sill and weld a new captive nut inside. Better still get a peice of thick steel drill and tap 7/16 unf and slip that in from the sill, obviously you will have to remove the old captive nuts firsts On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

Jimster, this is in the subframe not the sill? I reckon, i could take the two front mounts of and drop the subframe down my 2 inchs to give me enough space to get in the access panal at the back edge of the frame and slip another nut in there? my other idea is to cut the subframe open and then slide a plate in and weld that at the end then drill a whole the other side and puddle weld it?

can't drill and tap, the bolt inside has come away from the welds, so there is nothing to tap to?

sorry, my mistake, in the long run it will work out quicker to pull the subframe off and do the job right, ,shortcuts usually take longer. On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:
