Just got my car Mot'd no problems except the emissions. Co2 is fine but hydrocarbons are way over. |

on my cosworth i had problems every year(approx 13 times the acceptable limit).... i had to make the following adjustments which are often overlooked for mot purposes and then reset them afterwards |

Look for some tax exempt plates! - They check by eye to see if the car is blue smoking.

That's the main problem i think. The engine doesn't get hot, it runs realy cool since i did the mods to the cooling system.

Phil last time my car was mot'd i had to weaken off the mixture and retard the timing to pass the emissions, it was highest on CO approx twice the limit, easier for me to alter than you i know! as suggested you could always take it somewhere else?? I know i don't normally recommend 'that' place near us, but at least they understand minis shortcomings and know how to get them through the MOT emissions..
Here for the craic..

....open spark plug gaps up to a big gap to get a better spark, make sure dizzy cap and rotor arm are new, disconnect the engine breather system and remove air filter...even then i had to adjust the ecu while the test was carried out,and once passed reset it to the original position
