ok thanks to a member of this forum, i have got my hands on a pair of mk1 fiesta calliper carriers, as we know these are now rocky horse shite !! i have an aquantence who is a CAD and CNC lecturer, whom i have given the carriers to to get patterns made up for them, he is of the opinion he can CAD the items quite easily, and on the machines he has access to he could knock em out in alloy. EDIT: or Steel

You will need to be very careful with material selection.

Mk2 route might be better and easier to get hold of the re-engineered calliper. The carriers on the Mk2 have two bolt holes to bolt the sliders into, which come as part of the new calliper...

Is there a way designing the sliders and caliper spacing so you can get away with the metro turbo flanges? That would be cool!

Make them from steel. If folks want weight saving, they'll fit alloy calipers, not fiesta ones. If folks want cheap 10" calipers, they'll fit fiesta ones.

oh as a guide price I think my conversion cost me about £350, inc new bearings, ball joints, buying used F-brakes and then swapping them in for new ones at the local factors, new discs ( I got them machined for free), new pads, a set of 8.4" hubs (which were complete), new drive shaft clips, new braided hoses, 1 inch spacers for the rear, and new studs all round.
I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

no probs. the material can be what ever, to be fair i would have rather used billet steel. the feedback is good, not sure what stress programmes etc he has, but i could have tests done at another department.

Just make it out of steel - then the stress problems go away LOL.

i could do just the carriers or do them with new callipers as sets, all that would be required would be to get the discs turned down, however this again would be a facility i could arrange at realitive ease. If it's any help both MRA and KAD sell 7.9" discs. On 11th Sep, 2008 Richie said:
for those that dont know.....this would enable use of ten inch wheels, and as i have run the fezzy route before i can recomend them for braking power. The BOC had it's MoT last weekend each of the front brakes recorded 190 on the brake test. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:
