West Sussex - dreaming of forced induction!

So I was doing some searching for megajolt pieces over the www and saw a mr fenton was machining these pulleys............back in 2006!

I saw a post saying he was no longer doing them somewhen early 2007, but does anyone know anyone who is still?!?!?!

How about the sensor brackets? I'm in need of one of those, but I dont think Tom is doing a run of their custom brackets in the near future?

No, not the sensor brackets (although those will be required as well) more the standard cast bottom pulley machined with the 36-1 pattern :)

Yea im just after the pulley as all the sensor brackets i have seen rub on the fan belt, so im going to build my own.

If anyone is going to start making them, pm me with a price. iv got about 2 or 3 pullys kicking about so i can give you then to do the machine work on...

RIGHT, as promised I've spoken to Phil (who does the machining) and he has time to do machined pulleys, but not the brackets at the moment.

So anyone wanting a pulley machined with a 36-1 pattern, missing tooth situated to allow the sensor to sit at the front of the engine, PM me for further details.

There MAY be another run of brackets in December/New Year time if there is enough interest.

The advantage of the Med kit is that the toothed wheel is directly bolted to the crank as opposed to the machined cast pulleys which have the toothed wheel connected to the crank through rubber.

I'd rather gring the teeth into a standard pully with a house brick than spend money with MED!!!.

That was why I tried to come up with a way of mounting a ring type trigger wheel onto the pressed plate that is attached to the hub on the back of later pulleys (the pressed plate with two notches, something to do with factory timing setup) but I couldn't get it to fit.... so I ended up with it just attached to the back of the pulley instead of the front..... still through the rubber.

How much difference to the timing is made by the rubber insert is.... debatable..... ???

i seem to remember seeing the calculations for this and i think the difference was smaller or about the same as the resolution of mjlj so almost negligible

im off to dig about 8-).. back lol.. it seems to be about 0.5 degree either way so 1 degree in total, nothing really... although i think i missed the point? was that a question*happy*

would i need a damper pully to send to you tom for the machining? as i dont have one*happy*

I don't know if anyone has ever measured it (not sure how they would) but the absolute error is probably not very big. What I'd be more worried about is the jitter and what effect it could have on speed computations and the resulting errors on timing and fueling. Also, what would happen in case of rubber failure (even partial) which is much more possible with rubber than steel, especially with an old pulley.

One thing is certain. if you can mount the wheel directly to the crank it's one less thing to worry about.
