Anyone wanna give me their best , least work , method for changing the little bugger ??

I was thinking undo steady bars
off with the carb
rock the engine 4ward and let the knuckle in the downpipe move as the down pipe hits the floor

What do you rekon ???

can`t see how exhaust would move enough for you to remove the turbo off the manifold studs .just undo exhaust clamp and let exhaust drop , then push turbo back, return pipe should stay on , not easy job and no real short cuts.

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

remove the plenum (allows you to move carb plus inlet manifold towards the bulkhead.
remove all the maifold bolts and washers (if you unsrew the manifold nuts to the edge of the studs you can normall lift the inlet manifold out of the way, saves dropping them)
use a big bar to push the turbo back just enough to remove/fit the gasket.
ive used this method but on typing it have realised it does have risks like splitting the oil return pipe so id undo this first if you can get to it.
or remove the turbo completly *tongue*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Remove the manifold studs, takes about 30 mins and gives you a bad back!

how do you remove the 2 studs under the inlet without removing the carb/inlet first.
everybody is basicaly saying the same thing , its a pain in the neck and back .
takes about an hour depending what esle may need to come off , i`ll be doing it agian tomorrow as i think i have spilt in the manifold gasket so better change it now , before i play again.

There is another thread talking about the manifold gasket. Avonbar posted a comment saying that the mpi steel gasket is thinner than the turbo one. I have just put a mpi gasket on, it seems to have sealed ok - I will let you all know how long it lasts, oh and the standard exhaust manifold gasket lasts about 30 miles! *indifferent*
