Hi Guys, I think this is my first post on the forum. I've been reading and learning from everybody.. Thanks.

Anyway... I am located in Bahrain in the Middle east and have been trying to build my engine up for a while. I have a 3 K1200RS heads that I can play with.

Originaly I was getting the parts from a not so reliable engine tuner.. After one year of trying to get my bits.. ended up with just the block, crank, conversion pulleys .. Pistons, Rods, Headgasket and manifold never arrived... Been waiting over a year since I got the other bits.. Trying to get my money back even though he finally promised a refund. Anybody know a lawyer?

Original plan was a 1380 race engine for track use.. But since reading this forum I'm thinking about turbo power.

Question is.. What pistons would be recomended. 73.5mm with enough dish for turbo.... I'm no so concerned about the price as I want good solid pistons...

Would appreciate any advice or help.. Bahrain hasnt got the biggest mini scene in the world... So all info I get is from the forums.

Cheers
Tareq

hello mate, have a search on here about the pistons you will find alot of info on them.

you've got accralite forged pistons, Omega forged pistons and a few others that my mind has gone abit blank on.

there are a few people on here now that have got K-headed turbos now. a good one to look at would be matty's. search for matty in the username section of the search page.

when ever i have had anything to find out about the K-conversions and i cant find it in a search i've always found JohnK (of specialist components) very helpfull.

have a scout around mate. if you need anything dont hesitate to ask! (thats if you cant find it in the search *wink* )

oh and fancy giving me one of them K1200rs heads *happy* hubba hubba

Thanks for the info.

Yeh been reading all the posts on the conversion.

Cant seem to find many 1380 turbo builds.. Was just wondering what you guys preferred in terms of pistons.

I really only need two heads but I think it would probably cost more to send one to the uk than you can get it in the uk.
I had another one that my friend to back to the uk with him.

Any recomendations on someone to port the head?

Cheers

The biggest problem with a 1380 turbo is getting the compression ratio down.

This is not such a big problem though if you ignore certain trains of thought about squish

The Don uses Mega pistons which is a cast piston.

Acrilites look favourite for forged pistons, and are available in 18cc dish :)

For me it would depend how the car was going to be used. If you are going to spend more time pootering round with the odd blast at full throttle, the cast pistons would be better, but if its a track car used mainly at full throttle, the forged pistons are a must

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Hello Tareq - I'm sure your minis are nice and rust free over there - big bonus

Nice job getting hold of some K heads in good time.

Accralites with the 18cc bowl would be a good choice - I chose these for my turbo 16v engine. You can also open the chambers ina K quite a lot to keep the compression forced induction friendly on 1380cc

If you have any specific queries on cylinder heads, porting, the conversion etc give us a call or drop us an email.

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

It is also 1293cc so irrelevant really as he is talking about 1380's.
