wouldnt mind an answer to this too. iv often seen "grey diafram and organic plate" crop up, but from whome are these purchased and any machining required for fitment to a normal and aftermarket (A) flywheel?

Depends how much power you have/want?

Ive never used a verto clutch, the pre-verto clutch can handle more torque due to the diaphram springs and plates avaliable.

I used a normal (preverto plate) with 90hp na, and a standard diaphram which didnt slip for 25000 odd miles. But the rivets holding the centre section of the plate to the splinded centre had all stretch (hence the plate and spline were effectively loose.) It jiggled when shacken, not so good.

With 150hp turbo engine I use a grey diaphram and a rally clutch plate (as it has twice as many rivets) and and have had no trouble with it for a year or so

Grey, AP organic plate, backplate lugs machined to 23.5mm, great for the 1/4 mile and general road use (still has a light pedal) but starts slipping at peak torque (around 3800 rpm) in high boost after it's bedded in...

Hmmm, well i recall being scoffed at (on miniclassic) when i first said i did this...

Basically, the diaphram body deforms more with the higher load from the grey spring than if a blue is fitted for example, hence this 'deformation' is moving the spring reaction point away from the flywheel the more load is increased. In my tests on a clutch testing rig at work, i found that 23.5mm worked pretty well for an almost new clutch plate...

Thankfully Rabbit molester has had a very public telling off from Chip (owner of Miniclassic) so has been sulking and not posting much recently...
Many, Many people (myself included) had a big grin on our faces when that happened!
