this is DAM9373, the difference is it has 30 teeth instead of 29, and when used with the corresponding input gear DAM6337 ( which has 28 teeth ) means you have an overdrive ratio on the drops equivalent to 0.933:1 or with a STD input gear 0.966:1.

The thing is, many people don't even know they have this gear in their engine. Used mainly on "E" Metros and Export Minis, and normally coupled with the 'double grove' A+ gearboxes to reduce the wider ratio of the gears.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

So let me get this straight in my head! I can swap for this gear without swapping the other idler gears? But if it has a different number of teeth how does that work. Doesnt it all grind up somewhere?
Am I being stupid or missing something?

It's all in the magic of gear design... The pCD of this gear changes very slightly, hence driving the idler at a slightly different PCD, but it is obviously acceptable - just... You can get away with a single tooth in most cases, but the gearpair is likely to be compromised somewhat. How they get away with two teeth on some idler ratio's I don't know...

If you comapred the tooth shape of this to a 1:1 idler, you'd see the difference clearly that allows this to happen.

Any A+ idler gear will work, they are all 30 tooth
