Can anyone tell me at what revs the peak power should be on a 1293 with Phase 2 cam. Assuming that the head and turbo are not limiting the cams potential.

Basically need to know if it would pull to 8000rpm.

depend of accord between cam,c/r, boost, TIP and head flow, you should find pic hp at 7200 rpms.
reving to 8000 will not give much advantage over a shift.
shifting at 7200 , gear ratio dependant will put your engine in his max torque potential and reveal the beauty of the ph2,
then engrave a smile on your face and hell's bells in your head between 4500 and 7000!

Thanks fab,

I'm probably about to buy that Jack Knight gearbox with a 3.9:1 diff which is a bit on the low side for my plans. It will cost a bit to change the diff, so I'm thinking of investing the extra money in the bottom end to make it hold together to 8000rpm.

Just needed to know that the Ph2 was still the right cam choice.

Paul, I understand, the "I get my hands on..",but if i were you I would consider to buy the right dif as a 3.9 is really too short, that's what I used to have with a n/a 544 camed/40 chokes webber45 1380, and it was already a bit short on race days, with a turbo...
It does have a cost, but you'll thanks yourself each time you'll drive your mini. *wink*.
If it can make sens I'm on a 1275 gt gearbox, with 18 psi since 6 mounth now, and with the help of good oil, it does survive much longer that what I though,I now reduced to 12 psi to be sure to have sometime behind me,but I never though I would past summer with it

The other option I'm looking at in some detail is a set of Force Racing 13" wheels with some decent tyres with a bit more on the diameter.

That will have the same effect as going down to a 3.4 diff.

Paul, are you cracking up? you can get a 3.6 or a 3.44 final drive for not a lot (I've probably got a spare 3.44 you can have) and you can get most if not all your money back by selling the 3.9 fd on the bay.

The gearbox has a conventional LSD so needs the rim type crown wheel. Minispeed are selling a 3.46:1 CW & P at £270. There are others a bit cheaper, but still mega-bucks.

Ahh, that explains it & probably limits what FDs you can use as well.

MRA used to machine FDs for LSDs for a reasonable price, although I would have thought a man of your talents could probably do the machining yourself.

I like the idea of the 3.9 diff and some slightly bigger tyres. Not M&H tractor jobbies but say a 185/60/13.

The problem is that we will start breaking gearboxes with all the grip.

Glad to see someone has more projects than me *happy*
