With a BENROSS head and 15psi it should make over 150 bananas Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

yeah 150 should be easily done but i would go with an escort RS turbo spec exhaust housing to give the turbo an easier time getting to 15psi. |

I concur, the turbo could be the limiting factor but im going for 158 bananas, more on the right rollers |

Totally dependent on the rolling road, anything from 150hp to 180hp. |

Been pondering for a while now about what I will be achieving from my engine build. The original target was 150bhp, i think its do-able with the spec ive built my engine to, maybe perhaps higher?? From what figures you've seen over the years, how big a bunch of bannana's and bar's of curley-wurleys could i get from this motor? I know it will be hard to say but im just curious!! Spec is as follow's: Standard T3 turbo Turbo HIF44, high flow needle valve and uprated dashpot spring Avonbar Billet acuator, 12psi i think, dunno how I find out Eventually 15+ psi on a bleed valve. 1293 Metro Turbo block 10cc dish Omega Cast pistons Standard crank and rods Centre main strap Heavy duty main, rod and camshaft bearings Powerflow high capacity oil pump Avonbar phase 2 cam kit Piper Vernier Duplex kit MED Ultralight steel flywheel MED Ultralight Backplate Grey pressure plate AP Race/Rally plate Minispares Molybdenum 4-pin differential Minispares Clubman SCCR gearset TRAN-X 1:1 SC drop gears Fully modded Benross head BK450 head gasket Standard rockers Benross ported manifold and elbow EDIS and MJLJ setup A "Phase 1" Alloy intercooler Nic Plenum Bailey Piston type DV In car bleed valve Metro front mount rad 8mm feed and return Metro turbo fuel pressure regulator Metro turbo fuel pump I know some of it isnt relevant but i just copied it from a list I have. This is pretty much the final spec as I have got 95% of these bits now. did you copy my engine build list off of my pc? lol :) apart from the intercooler and rad i would say happy side of 150 :) Edited by Paul R on 29th Sep, 2008. 15 PSI 165BHP Sounds good to me
Still room for improvement but ive been collecting bits for 3 years so i really dont mind if there are bits lacking I can develop later! Cheers for the comments, good to hear that you think my target is do-able!! Whoever gets the closest guess I will send a banana and a curly-wurley! Cheers |

So what do we think 150 bananas is good for in a standard weight mini? 0-60 in the low 6's and mid 14 second 1/4's? On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

I think on 12 psi on the rollers i use it around 130 to 140 bhp. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

When you say give it an easier time getting to 15psi, how do you mean? Faster spool? I've done a search and it didnt come up with anything so could someone explain a little more about the benefits of doing this and how you go about it? To be honest I havnt really looked into turbo options and matching yet but planned to once the engine was in and ready to be developed!! |

Changing the exhaust turbine to the RS one give you a slower spool up but better high boost potential. So it will achive higher boost levels easier. "So wat we gonna do tonight Brain?"
