Hi Guys,

Any ideas?
The thing goes NUTS at 3/4 throttle. it feels more powerful than at full throttle...

A/F is fine, doesnt lean out on full throttle or richen up - sits on about 13 the whole time.
Part throttle lean out pipe is NOT blocked off...
Not sure what else you need to know but its very strange.

Pete

I'm not sure it's possible with the HIF but check that the butterfly only goes to fully open and not past it at full throttle.

I`m with wil with the butterfly "over-open",,, but i`m also suspect on your "doesn`t lean out" thing,,, i`d be double checking that while you`re there.

also check the carb piston is actually reaching full tilt,,, ie: is actually able to get to the top of it`s travel.

Thanks Wil & Matt...

Ill get the lambda back on it asap... but im sure its ok.
Ill check the over open but I am almost 100% sure that when I had the carb off, I tried to 'open' by turning the throttle and it stops (ie/ cant physically go further than a certain point)

Cheers,
Pete

Sounds like a plan, but difficult!! The only way I found was to make a sealed indicator.. The other way is to polish down your needle at station 11,12 and make sure that the WOT mixture gets richer (if it doesn't then the piston has not lifted to the top exposing those stations) Problem is your needle is then screwed...

What carb spring are you running and at what boost? I suspect some run over strong springs as it conveniently enrichens things.. I found an 8 or 12oz fine up to 12psi.

Hi Guys,

Its running 10-11psi boost now (was 15psi) until I get the new turbo... this week.

The spring in the carb is standard...

I also think its needles, but Grieg and Graham tuned it and said its running GREAT... at the time, we didnt notice the 3/4 vs Full throttle at that time...

I wonder if its the opposite.. the piston is already all the way up at 3/4 throttle.. though that usually causes a leanout at WOT.

I would certainly think about a 12oz spring if you intend running 15psi. problem is it will change the whole needle and you will have to reprofile it..

Only surefire way to find out is to knock up an indicator..
