Hi, cars running perfect now with a nwe fuel regulator. With the old one, the pump whined and the pressure was constantly on/off. I can now boot it! Its awsome!

I want to order a new downpipe TODAY though, nobody has recomented a company though, is avonbar the best? The only thing is it mentions modifying the clamp, and i dont know if i will be capable, im willing to have a go though if its not hard to do wrong! Could anybody tell me whats involved in modifying it it, and also if i will gain anything with getting a bigger downpipe?

all the pipes are pretty much the same... compare prices and decide.
Clamp just needs attention with the angle grinder - easier to do before you weld the bolt heads in...

Needs a picture really...
Basically, if you put the clamp 'together', the smaller hole is what goes around the exhaust.
The Stock metro turbo downpipe was 1 3/4" OD, hence the clamp was designed to fit snugly round a 1 3/4" OD pipe. All you have to do is get your grinder out and run it around the smaller 'diameter' on the clamp. As i recall, if you end up with a flat around 5mm wide, it's about right. All you have to do to check is try fittign it around the pipe. Bear in mind it's properly fitted when the two clamp halves are around 2/3mm apart.
I'm sure (or rather i hope) Avonbar / Minispeed only sell clamps that are already suitable for the only availble downpipes...

Oh, you'll know if you've got it right as it'll seal first time without using any putty / paste.

As TD said. But if you've got the pieces off the car, then its quite easy to see what needs to be done.

Don't forget to weld the bolt heads to one side of the clamp though cos it well hard to fit otherwise!

If you cant weld them you can use a two bolt locking tab like the one off the diff housing... works great

I've bought two downpipes over the years fron Ian at avonbar and i am pretty sure they were both Maniflow items.

I use the green maniflow downpipe from minispeed. It is the pipe with the ball pivot and tension spring.
I found that I needed a bigger exhaust clamp to fit around the new pipe as it is a larger diameter. My mod was simple for the clamp - Twist the clamp around and drill a new mounting hole in the original mounting plate.
No leaks at all!
