which way do wheel bearings go arround? so the bearings fall freely out?

fronts, i got the hub in the oven and the bearing rings in the freezer atm lol :)does the seal with the extra plastic seal go front or back i cant remember Drives

That seal goes to the back (engine side)

As above, punch or a drift to knock out. A socket to fit new ones. Nice light taps. On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:

dont have a socket big enough to tap it in with, thats the only proplem and why i did it the way i did. was thinking about carving up some wood to use but not sure if it will work Drives

That would work, problably better as its nice and soft. It won't do any damage to the bearing. On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:

i use an old race with the od ground down a midge and tap it home square with that "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"

i turned a bit of alu. to 'abit smaller than race dims.' and used it as a drift.

yes thats very true. 2 sets of wheel bearings in 2 months on a standard road going mini. i then decided to use a big socket and theyre still ok after 6 months On 23rd Oct, 2009 sim_ou_nao said:

I recently replaced the front wheel bearings on my project car and found using the haynes manual and it's diagrams along with this youtube clip really helpful for a first time wheel bearing job.

my wheel bearings are a bit dodgy, i bet i've not got my ring in square lol

had had someone get me to look at there car due a funny noise, turned out the wheel bearing had gone bigtime, when i told him he said he had done it a week ago, i then proceeded to undo the hub nut by hand, he had used mole grips to do it up!
