Been offered a right hand tank for my mini FREE *happy*

About to rip my mates arm off before he changes his mind!
Thing is though will the petrol returning to only 1 tank cause a problem?

Or will the balance pipe between the two tanks take care of things?

i.e will it flow as fast as returning fuel

There is no way I would consider modifying a 'S' tank ever!!!!

Someone tell me it's not a problem please *tongue*

I wouldnt or thought it would be a prob - but then im not entirely sure how the origional plumbing would work.

If its just a pipe to balance and all the suching and returning goes into one tank i wouldnt of thought it would be a problem.

youre only problem will be finding a t-piece that goes from 2*8mm to 13mm.

i have both tank outlets going in to two separate fuel filters into the t-piece and then in to the pump. this is not the way to do it.

make sure there are no filter or anything to interrupt the fuel BEFORE the tpiece... put your filter AFTER the tpiece.

ideally you want a return to both tanks, but as my RH tank is even more rare than a genuine cooper S one, im not so sure i want to carve it up.

still, i wouldnt recommend filling both up too far.

incidentally, trev at www.noswizard.com was kind enough to spin me up a very sexy tpiece.

cost a lot, but does the job, and is rather attractive

Hmmm
Well i am fitting or have fitted twin tanks should i say on my turbo
(only I didnt get mine for free *frown* *angry*)
And I was informed and have done this, that you have to put a return into both tanks otherwise it will draw fuel from both tanks and then when your sitting in traffic and the pump is pumping no matter how much the engine is using and the pressure regulator is doing its thing and returning fuel back to the tank it would only refill the one you connected eventually leading to overflow on that tank and an empty tank the other side.
Yes its very painfull having to drill a return pipe into an 'S' tank especially when like me you pay the full ?275 for it *surprised*
But it has to be done for it to work.
SORRY to bring bad news.
With regards to the stepping up or down of size pipe, I found a place called europaspares.co.uk do the reducer/enlerger inline pieces for fuel pipe and there metal and only a couple of quid each, also heard demon tweeks do them too.

Hope this is of some help
Rob

But surely if there is a pipe connecting the 2 tanks to balance them out even if the level rises in one tank it will be balanced out to them both.
