If the original connection to coil positive was a pink/white wire and a yellow/white wire then it is 99% certain the loom is for ballast ignition.

Pink/white is the colour they used for the ballast resistor feed wire and the yellow/white was the extra voltage fed from the extra tag on the wing solenoid when starting.

To run the electronic dizzy (I'm assuming it's that one as you say two wires on it) you need to re-configure things a bit, the ballast feed is NOT suitable for electronic ignition, and you don't need the extra voltage start wire.

For the electronic dizzy you need an ignition switched 12V source to the coil positive. The existing loom MAY have a spare white wire in this area that is ignition switched 12V as some of the looms were dual purpose. You will need a DVM to check it out.

Then all you need is two wires from either side of the coil down to the two connectors on the module on the side of the dizzy, BUT, the polarity must be right. If you use the purpose made mini "loom" that belongs with the dizzy it has to be correct as the connectors are handed and male/female mismatches. If you don't have the purpose made connection, do a search, I have posted the correct connections on here before.

Apart from that, the only other connection to the coil negative would be something like a rev counter (usually a black/white wire). The previous second black/white would have been down to the contact breaker in the old dizzy.

All the other coloured wires in your loom are for something else, ie oil pressure switch, temperature sender, depends on model of car.

EDIT - I should add, make sure you have the correct coil that belongs with the electronic distributor, the normal (12v or ballast) coils are not suitable.

white with a black trace -Ve on the coil.
Green with a black trace I believe is the feed to your washer bottle motor.
Brown and red This wire comes from the starter relay and goes to the solenoid of the starter motor.
white with a yellow trace +ve on the coil.
White with a brown trace oil pressure switch.

Dizzy wires go to the coil white with black trace -Ve the other white wire to +Ve.

Only for ballast ignition - Do NOT connect this if running electronic ignition.

You say there are two wires from the dizzy - assuming there is a black plastic module on the side that the two wires connect to with a plug/socket arrangement, then it's electronic.

There are two versions of the plug/socket but both versions have just two wires to go up to the coil.

And (just to confuse matters) there was an early version that had the module mounted seperately, not on the side of the dizzy, but still with two wires up to the coil.

If the dizzy has just has a single connection (either a single tag on the side or a single short piece of wire with a tag on the end) it's points....

Post a photo if you're unsure.
