yes looks good untill i saw the 5th gear ratio, i'll be sticking with my 4th for now, NO point in having a 1.1 5th gear for the road IMO! Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

why not, well for a road car IMO it would be helpful to have a lower then 1.1 ratio for a 5th gear, other wise why don't i just fit a 2.7 diff to my 4 gears and save £1500, as i'll gain not revs and economy from it! Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

Cos most cars won't pull a 2.7 without loosing too many revs on each gearchange. Fitting a 2.7 to a four speed would be like having a 3.1 on a conventional overdrive (0.865) ratio 5 speed except the power loss in 5th would be less as it is 1:1. On 5th Sep, 2011 Vegard said:

I like the look of the KAD box very much. Trapaezoid dogs have a longer life than involute dogs and engage better than "bean" dogs. It's a beautiful piece of engineering. The snag is close ratios. I accidentally bought a challenge gearkit and it has the problem inherant to powerful engines, whether they be FI or big capacity. You need a good spread of gears.
Bugger off, I'm getting there. |

The KAD 2.4 first is lower than my ST 2.54 first which limits my final drive choice. Either that or it's a clutch plate a week.
