Were having trouble setting up the caster on my mini. ive got the Minispares adjustable bottom arms fitted aswell as the Avonbar on car adjustable tie rods.
I took it to a tyre centre as they have laser alignment. When it came to adjusting the caster, for some reason we couldnt get it to come down much. started with about 9 degrees on one wheel and 6 degrees on the other. tried adjusting the bottom arm and tie rod at the same time but it just wouldnt go any lower, even with the tie rod at full length... i just dont get it. Ive got the special offset bushes in the bottom arms, could these be too stiff not allowing the tie rod to push the arm back?
is there something were missing?
any help would be great.

Fastest A Series Mini in the World

leeds/wakefield.

theres your first mistake, you took it to your local tyre shop tp have the work done, do you know if they have ever used the lazer thing before,

if you are altering the lengh of the tie rods , you are altering the castor, its a simple law of physics,

some machines show caster in a frozen caster reading rather than live. if it is frozen castor then he would have had to perform a new castor swing to get the new readings after adjusting the rod. but im sure he should know that.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Out of interest does that car feel any different to drive having shortened the tie rods?

I made that mistake, a tyre shop near me tried to tell me that the adjustable tie rods could not be adjusted and that they were anti roll bars.

When I did mine it made the car feel lazy at the front. Although my front end has rose joints on the tie bars and lower arms I have left the dimensional set up at standard.
