I've got a mate who specialises in MoTs for Rally cars and the like and I spoke to him a while back about a daylight MoT for my clubman. From what I can remember you still need indicators etc, it's just the head lights you loose. You should in theory get a caution for not having head lights and another form / piece of paper that states that the car can only be used during the day time.

dont see the point in a daylight MOT its not the end of the world to wiring your lights. no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

its not the wiring in of the lights, its all the extra weight of the cables etc |

you do not need indicators if there is no operation switch for them i believe. if any of the system is fitted then it needs to work. |

James is correct. It is quite common in the bike world to run with a daytime only MOT.Its not just enough to remove lights and indicators, you must also remove all the wiring and switches. If you get caught out after dark you need more than luck -and probably psychiatric help !. |

On 21st Oct, 2008 Paul R said: My BMW was built for the euro market so they were not fitted but cars of the same age built for sale in this country by law had to have them fitted. So I say again if your car was built in 1987-88 weather or not it was first registered in this country for a car of that age to pass an MOT it must have side repeaters fitted in the wings. And that is straight from the MOT bible.
F is 88 :) E is 87-88
but not entirely true about the side repeaters, if your car wasnt produced with it it doesnt need it :) On 21st Oct, 2008 iain said: i think matty meant that most wouldnt notice

i was told that for bikes, its all lights or no lights at all, no brake light, side light, front light, indicators, also not needed was speedo but you do need a horn. and that was from a person who has bikes with daylight mot's. |
