Fit an oil temp gauge, if the oil gets too hot add an oil cooler.

yes i think they are good if your going fast around bumpy road, but yes i have heard that the oil temps shoot up, so yes this will need to be looked at.

i plan to fit one for bumpy roads and erm landings :), should have had one for my first mot it wouldnt have cracked my sump :( but if you fit an oil cooler everything should be fine from what i have gatherd?

as for the money side of things, £35 for an oilcooler from summerford minis and then the sumpgaurd, couple of days over time?

i ran a sump guard for over 2 years 20'000miles, i did see a small increase in oil temp but only on long journeys, round town didnt realy bother it, it stiffened up the front subframe alot and saved my sump on at least 2 occasions, my mini was thrashed all over so the cooling system was always at test, i will be putting another one on (it back on after rebuild) *wink*

what would you to prefer it running nice with no oil cooler and good temps, and to lose a box because of that speed bump you didnt see*surprised*
or
put a sump guard on with a cooler, probably benifit the oil anyway and not have to replace the gearbox because you bounced over that speed bump you didnt see*happy*

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*
