Was inspired by that Megajolt post the other week, and have ordered the kit.

I've done almost 400 miles on the engine now, so not too long before I can stick it on the rollers.

My plan is to measure my dizzy timing and make a 2D map from that, but if any experianced people can sugest a resonable starting point that can be tweaked on the rollers then please let me know.

Anyone have any recomendations for a rolling road that can sort a mini running this system any where nearish Cardiff?

cant help with your questions, but i have a couple...... where did you order your kit from? what was the total cost? how long is delivery likely to take? i only ask because i have found a source in the uk, but as expected is more expensive that the us seems to be and i am weighing up my options.

you got the rest of the parts for the kit yet?

please keep me updated of how things work out for you, including any problems you have!

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

I ordered my kit off the website.
I am an electronics design engineer, so getting most of the parts from work wasn't a problem.

However, I ordered the map sensor and the oscillator from the US as I read some posts saying that they weren't available in the UK.

My thinking was that they were cheap enough from the US and postage wouldn't be too much on such light items.

How wrong was I... got shagged backwards by the postage and then import tax.

Luckily I ordered two kits, another for a mate so we can split the cost.

The MAP sensor etc took about a week, I am still waiting for the PCB and micro, but they were sent on the 24th so will be here soon I hope!

My advice is get everthing from the UK if possible and avoid the hidden costs!

That said, I should have mapable ignition for around £70 so can't complain that much.

Thats including the EDIS4 and the timing wheel which I still need!

I can give you a copy of my igntiion map if you like, I'm in bridgend so not to far away. I use emerald. But I'm sure I could give you a copy of the software too so you could open the map and read what it's doing, This would give you a good starting point.

I have used tommy willfield in abercynon before, he's not A1 on mapped ignition, but he is familiar with it. I take mine to dave walker in norfolk, a long drive, but worth it

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the offer of your map, I can easily pop up to Brigend, I'll PM you later this week if thats OK.

How good is tommy with SU's? can he make custom needles etc.
I've run my engine in now, but decided on fitting a T2 before I roller it, so I'll be looking for a rolling road in the next month or so.

If you can say that tommy has done some worth while work on your car then I'll use him, and perhaps go to a specialist next summer.
My car's a MK2 so I try not to use it much in the winter anyway so no real rush.
