Well its been a fun 3/4 years of mini-ing and the dreaded first accident happened. So the second rebuild is now under way.

The car started of life as a Mot failure, and had a full nut and bolt rebuild including bare metal respray all by myself. The first 5k with a stage 2 998 and the next 15k with a stage 3 1293. Heres a couple pics:

Then i slid it down a ditch and this is where we are now:

Front left hand corner got bent and the center of the windscreen surround pushed down, but have pushed it all back out and straightened it up.

Engine is a Morspeed trackday kit (hardened and balance crank, balanced rods, center main strap, arp rod bolts, arp head bolts, phase 3 cam etc.) Which is needing a rebuild already after only 15k. Have got some new 21253 + 40 pistons ready and some other new exciting bits to go on. The head is a morspeed phase 3, which will either be modded to lower the compression for the turbo or sold.

All stripped down ready to be bored and rebuilt:

Gearbox - fully rebuilt standard helical, cpu, mini spares x-pin diff.

New timing gear i'm looking forward to trying out:

The 1293 pistons will be kept as paper weights, there a bit scuffed on the skirts, but have only done 15k just the bores are worn so need to go next size up. The pistons are yours if you want them though.

Yeah finally seen the sense with the turbo, still undecided on the setup though.

Thanks matty, yup was a nice car, but hey it'll be even better next time.

Its a minispares vernier belt drive timing kit, designed to reduce timing scatter and run quiter.

More progress has been made this week.

Bulkhead boxed out, still needs a bit more welding as some of the seams are still only tacked:

Both rear arches tubbed:

Petrol tank hole welded up:

Boot floor cut out ready for flat sheet:

The best thing I've ever made, makes it so much easier to repair/modify a shell:

All of the tabs and battery cable strip removed from underside of the floor:

Also got the roll centre miglia spec cage ordered, should be here in 5-6 weeks time.

Yeah it only cost £40 in 40mm box section and 3/4 hours designing cutting and welding it together.

Bit more progress has been made, but still waiting on parts is slowing me down, the roll cage is apparently another 2 weeks, and the fibreglass bits and the alloy door skins should be with me within a week.

Front n/s foot well corner replaced:

Bulkhead box (supplied by millamber) fitted:

Wiper motor set-up figured out. Started off with a standard motor from a metro afaik, and shortened the shaft down and made some new fixing brackets:

Door bottoms replaced, and a bit of weight chopped out of them, just waiting on the alloy skins now:

95% of the wiring loom finished, just the shielded cable needed for the ecu, mock up panel of the switch layout made aswell:

Looking good mate, what colour are you planning.

The shell looks mint. are you needing a roof skin still?

The wiring has taken a lot of planning, supprising how much it costs to make a loom, when you add up all the cable, and switches.

Thanks again for the motor, just got to figure out the park switch wiring now.

Was gonna get it mot'd if its suitable when its build, but tbh doesnt really matter either way, as its prodomantly gonna be used on the track.

Gonna be painting in vauxhall glacier white, same as the vauxhal vxr's i think it loks awesome. Dave kimberly should be sorting me a roof skin as he's only a few miles away, but will let you know.
