will be interesting to see what it goes for - even building up a second hand unit to that spec will be costly

That was the issue in this case. The cost for this engine vs. building something yourself.
Let's be honest:

Gearbox with everything £800
Engine from MED for instance £1500-2000
Carbs, filters, exhaust £300
RRing £200

and so on and so on.

to be honest its most probably/definately cheaper in the long run especially once you add in your time/labour and any sundries.

just always seems expensive when you pay out in one lump sum. seems quite scary to think that this is quite a cheap high spec engine! and i wish i had 4k to spend at one time!

basically pretty jealous!

Indeed,

as V says you need to factor in the all the other stuff that you forget, gaskets for example, the cometic headgasket will be aroud £70 to start with. I woulnt want to put that together for that price

Is the KAD dyno optimistic? I still guess that this is the perfect road engine.

Yes it has the earlier head as I said in my pm.
Also you lose a bit installing it into a car for some reason.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
