Well after the saturday night special at santapod i came home with a slipping clutch and a bad hangover! I only managed to take the engine out at the weekend, to check the clutch and for a winter tune up! The pictures below speak a thousand words! Was using my slicks and just had too much grip for a hard launch Its just lunched the clutch *happy* Looking into what the options are now? it was a med flywheel and backplate with a alcon paddle and a grey cover!

As can be seen it has been very hot!!!

leeds/wakefield.

the flywheel and backplate should face up.can't see any reason to replace,

it looks lioke you need to loose weight off the car now,

hoqw about oil feeding the thrusts and using a stronger cover.

Thats just what i wanted to hear! I was hoping i would be able to get the flywheel and backplate faced as its not very old! Weight saving is part of the winter project as there can be alot more done yet. I was looking at the double grey but was worried about the thrusts! I had forgot about oil feeding them i will have to have a search for your posts!

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

i would go fror AP race plate and double grey .... forget the alcon paddle plate theyre shite in my book not enough contact area on only around 50% ish... think about it ?

did you machine1.5mm on the lugs on the back plate to give it more clamping load ? ................

if not this needs to be done,
no more slipping with the above job put to bed
iam sure carl will sort the flywheel and back plate out for you for some beer sheckels

I have just got a ap race plate from dan on here and i would say there is even less contact area, the lug mod wasn't carried out as it was a rush job before avonpark this year! Im just glad it died at the last event, it gives me an excuse to rebuild it to a better spec! They don't smell at all but it did squeal!

do not machine the lugs without measuring. It might well be that MED has already designed that into the backplate, as its a aftermarket one, and not a modified standard one.

Well recently I have been getting A few pieces together for rebuilding the engine/clutch. I took the the flywheel and backplate to my local machine shop, Had the flywheel skimmed but he couldnt get a good enough finish as he said it was just too hard! The Backplate was more warped than a bannana. So i have ordered new parts from MED. Im going to use a paddle again but this time with a double grey just struggling to get one at the minute! I have also had the thrust oilfed as per Fastcarl!

Just spending christmas rebuilding the engine keeping out the way *hehe!*

How much power are you putting out? The double gray sounds so overkill..

I dont honestly know how much power im running never been on the rollers. Vegard the clutch maybe overkill but I dont see the point in refreshing the clutch with the same bits too do the same again and i cant afford to keep replacing it! I think using proper drag slicks is putting to much stress on the clutch when it gets dropped at 5000rpm if the double grey cant cope then its time to try something else!
