yeh rob, it was after the bogus 330hp run i wanted to see if she would actually manage a genuine 300+ run, was lookign good too, at each RPM point in boost i was 40ft/lb above the bogus 330hp run :( shame she didnt hold out to 8000rpm *tongue*

post motem showed a burnt exhaust valve, melted sparkplug and the same cylidner blowing into the cooling jacket via the gasket.. pistons were perfect and intact. since then i cut a new head and have ran more boost on a higer compression ratio and not had a reocurrence of burning valves, so hopefully a one-off. but time will tell :)

well there is no doubt the car performs - maybe we should make another trip locally to a rolling road?

only ever really use rolling roads for numbers to tell everyone when im down the pub, so not been bothered, but will make an effort to get another run in in the new year once iv finished my wee round of improvements over the winter :)
theres a thread on thr turbo stuff here:

http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6561

just remember this is car a super budget piece of fun, not a show car for my engineering tallent (or lack thereof!) . alot of corners have been cut.

Rob, i have a few contacts in other garages with decent rollign roads should be able to negotiate some favourable prices, but wont be till the new year, and even then i may not find the time/money, but i'll drop you a pm as and when if you fancy :) prob around late jan / early feb!?

Star Mag. they were monitoring AFR's , and they were ohk i was watching them too! as i said above some corners have been cut in the build, one such corner was the seat of that valve when i was opening out the head, i slipped with the burr... it didnt get the whole width of the seat so i just thought "fuck it" and threw the head on. it lasted a good few months without issue. the rolling road in question doesnt have the best cooling i can only assume this put a little more stress on teh valve than usual and it failed. 110% my fault. the toher 3 cylinders had nice healthy plugs pistons and valves!
