The historic racers in Norway say they are more expensive and NOT as good as the A032Rs.

I would have thought not as good meaning lower grip levels lol.

Doesnt make a difference if its track or road surely? If its a better tyre its a better tyre? :S

No. A soft slick would be great on the road if dry, but would get too hot on track. Two totally different things.

So why do track cars use soft slicks if they get too hot then?

How soft is soft though?

Carl uses really and I mean really soft slicks on the twinnie. We used them on the DON at Curborough for a bit of fun and they were great, however I reckon 5 or so laps of somewhere like Cadwell Park and they'd be fooked.

so im guessing that they are worse on the road and on the track, does anyone know what they are like in the wet?

rich there are alot of diffrent compouns tyres, for example think of grand torisimo when you can choose the diffrent tyre compounds :) the softer generally more grip but dont last as long, the harder the longer they last but with lower grip

Here goes for Dunlop slicks

Miglias run 770s on the front and 622s on the rear and are a hard and medium compound respectively.

If I do a sprint at Lydden (a short 1.75 laps @ 0.88miles/lap) I use 436 compound tyres which if I used these at Goodwood would overheat on the higher speed circuit there in just 1 lap and be destroyed in 2. So there I use 622s alround.

If I do a trackday i can run all day on the Miglia tyres and have had the current ones for 10 years and are still good tyres as they are carefully stored in the dark.

So a soft slick would be absolutely no good at all for the road!

not exactly sure what the numbers are on the latest miglia slicks, but they don't use 770's or 622's any more, the new ones are slightly harder compound again, so if you've got the old ones, then keep hold of them.
