Should the bualk ring on the 1st/2nd synchro be tight against the synchro hub? On mine it has about 10mm movement. Doesn't seem right to me *oh well*

I cant seem to be able to move the selector forks either, I havent removed them... what am I doing wrong.#

Thanks

Have you installed the synchro hub the correct way round?

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

is the actual hub different? I know the other one is because I put it together the wrong way round first lol.

The sleeve/reverse gear is the right way round but could the actual hub be the wrong way round (I had the sychro apart...)

whilst in bits, ive seen a professional take the gear to a wire wheel until the baulk ring sat on it snugly enough to do its job, its supposedly preferably to grinding the baulk ring as this is simply wearing the part out before its life has even begun...

mate it will be slack untill you do both nuts up each end of the main shaft and 1st motion shaft.

the reason you cant move the syncro is the bell crank levers are jamming on the selctor.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

OK thanks. Once tight is it likely the bell cranbk lever will un-jam with moving the selector shaft.

Should the baulk ring be tight on the gear? It slides on and off the gear easily...

Thanks for the replies!

here's some pics:

as said earlier once the laygear is in and you lock the box using 1st and 4th the main pinion nut will pull the main shaft over, but at the mo looks ok.

you will have to play with the selctector shaft to relase the bell lever either that or the play with the selector them selfs as it can come out at that end to.

you will need all 3 levers in line to make sure every thing is ok

Thanks. I sorted it out last night...

Took the shaft back out and noticed that the one selector fork wasn't engaged into the bell cranks. (think I've worded that wrong)

Wont be making that mistake again lol.
