NEW ZEALAND - moving to Australia

hey ive brought this turbo for my 998 turbo project, its off a nissan pulsar gti-r not sure wat year etc, any ways ive got the numbers off it which are ...

AiReSearch M10
NB0617
14411 - 17F10
4662330 - 1

then on the pice in the middle has 430401

now i had a look on google and it told me it was a t3 ...?
and it is a .42/.48 turbo

im totaly not sure if this is to big or wat for the 998 engine and ive been searching on here but couldnt find any thing that said it was the wrong turbo to use so if any 1 help me out on this.

that t3's ar's sounds exceedingly similar to an escort t3?

iic the metro t3 is 0.25/0.48, and its a reasonaby large turbo for the 1275 in alot of people's eyes.

im far from an expert, but id say that turbo is probably absolute rubbish for a road 998 a-series

other will probably be able to confirm if im talking tosh or not

pulsar GTi-R turbo is HUGE my 1.4 16v k-sereis doesnt even get full boost up untill nearly 5000rpm T3 compressor T25 exhaust housing.

79 Trim, .86 A/R

you will find the trim numbers on teh inlet and exhaust housings, either inside the port or the outside.
if it is a pulsar turbo, e-bay it, youll never make boost :)

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

The best option for a road going 998 is the GT1548 in my opinion.

Alternatively use a T2 of a Renault 5 GT Turbo.

For something a bit racy, then the GT1752 would be my choice.

It's even bigger than an Escort - the Escort is listed as 0.36 on the turbine.

I can't see a 0.42 (turbine) listed but 0.48 on the turbine is Cossie size....

So, if the numbers are right, WAY too big.....

DVSMNI, somehow, I think you have the numbers wrong.....

Are you sure it's a T3 ???

some subaru impressa's come with shockingly small turbo's, have seen them used to good effect as an upgrade for glanza/starlet GTT's .. on that note a turbo from a starlet/glanza would probably be pretty ideal!

A Renault 5 Turbo T2 is .35ex and .48comp. This gives boost from 3k on a 998 and gets full boost between 3.5k and 4k.

with the .48 turbine I'd expect this to go up another 1k minimum. So it will work, but it won't be ideal.

Yes to the gearbox. You need to retain the 998 primary gear, but the rest should be the same.

for the head.

i could put thousands of links up for megajolt. (jolt is the one that just controls spark and what you will want to go for as i predsume you are retaining the carb.)

all i typed in was 12g295 for the head and suprise suprise megajolt for megajolt.......it has been covered before which is why i said search.

spot on for already searching sometimes its all about searching for the right thing.

P.s where abouts in new zealand are you from? my sister lives in Auckland on the north shore. i should be coming out to see her some time next year.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.
