hi, another 'silly' question....

i have standard height spax shocks for the front of my car. how low can i lower it using mini sport 'hi-lows'?

will be cutting the wing/a panel, and using genuine sportspack arches. this would only allow me to lower to 10mm max at the front im guessing.

anyone know at what point standard height shocks would bottom out? would prefer to use what i have if i can.

also does anyone see other problems with this? cheers

Not sure exactly, im runnng avo shorter dampers and these allow me to run 30mm + lower so would say 20mm on std length dampers. Sure someone else can be more definate

You'll be fine. I run the standard height shocks. I run the fronts 5mm off the bumpstop and the rear at a height that keeps the front-to-back ratio the same.

For a road car, you can't go much lower.

I would aim to have the damper halfway out when the car is at the chosen drive height. I shot a seal or something in one of my old spax (std. height) when running slammed, the oil leaked out at the adjuster screw…

Speaking of Dampers i recently saw a mini that had the dampers leaning into a slot that had been cut out of the bulkhead. The dampers were leaning at something like 35 deg.

Does this make any difference to the handling as it seemed like a lot of effort.

The problem with the mini suspension is that the front shock mount is in such a place that the shock moves very little (it's even worse for the doughnut).

Moving the body mounting position will definately improve the situation, but is it worth it is another question.

Im thinking of moving to full coil overs on the front but i dont want to loose the mini front suspension feel!

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.
