Does anybody have a link or know somewhere i can work out which compressor wheel is on a turbo? I have just got a T3 that is unknown but physically looks quite big.

The turbo has a .42 size exhaust housing, I'm sure i have been told in the past the exhaust turbines are the same across the range may be wrong though! The compressor side also has .42 stamped on the cover. The compressor wheel measure 42mm at the top and 60mm at the bottom across the fins, Anybody got any ideas?

What was also strange is that it came with the metro wastegate/exhaust elbow. I think it maybe a bitsa! :)

Cheers for the link Rod looks to be a 50 trim compressor wheel, so that is the same as a escort turbo as you suspected iain? Seems to have been a good gamble :)

nope sm ,the escort is a 45 trim , i fink .
with regard to the 50 trim ...
140-270bhp is its range at 22 psi ..
itll run up to 30 psi on the map ,..
it also has a good 75 % area efficiency wize ,
another underrated t3 wheel !:)

Sorry yeah the escort has the .36. I was more so talking about the compressor side. Now i dont really understand how to read compressor maps more of a bolt it on and see if it works kinda guy, The .36 seemed to bring the boost in around 500rpm later than the smaller metro housing so would this housing delay it a further 500rpm or is it just not that simple *happy*

prob would delay it a bit ,but then again yuor moving more air per rev of the wheel so try it and see ?could you not stick on the smaller housing if it doesnt work

That is what i was thinking robert suck it and see, if it makes the times any better then its a winner. I have quite a good selection of T3 housings so if it doesnt work i can try it on something smaller. thanks for the help chaps!!

i would think its an excellent step up from the 40 trim metro wheel sm , good luck with it ,
the extra weight of the turbine wheel on a t3 can be a real help to get over off the line wheelspin ,and the way the turbo wheels carries on maintaining rpm ,when changing gear, can make a much bigger shove after the change than a gt type turbo , which is good if you have the grip .
