Anyone own one?
Any good? Would think that flow would be good with a x-flow head.

An 8 port turbo would be very nice, only problem is the chambers in the head are so small ( 16.4 cc ). Getting a low enough CR is tricky.

u could try using one of those spacer head gaskets they are rather expensive and i'm not sure of how good they are but its worth a thought??

The idea is to have more capacity in the piston rather than the head, i am sure more CC could be found in the head with some carefull work. Emphasis on care as breaking through into a gallery could turn out to be an expensive mistake.

8 ports would make fuel injection an easier task.

trouble with the making of 'spacer plates' is that these affect the rocker geomety... Longer pushrods are a must.
It also affects the squish in the combustion, but there is no 'figure' that can be put to this to show how much it will change by...

8 port turbo - there is only one way to do this - the full hit; ie decent turbo, fuel injection, large single throttle plenum, large intercooler, and of course the rest of the engine / drivetrain built to take it... 200hp is easilly achievable with a 7 / 8 port turbo in theory (but very costly!!!)

Stick that head straight on a 998 however and you get a CR of around 9.4, which is a much easier place to start reducing the CR.

Wasn't the geezer who runs Minispares Southwest building a 998 eight port turbo?

Yes, Steve has done this. He has been working on minis longer than most of us have been alive, One of the original Dowton tuning boys from the sixties.

I spoke to his wife some months back and allthough the car is complete it has'nt been running in the hillclimb series for which it was built.

Forgot about that one.

Would'nt go ring him and asking him questions as the man does'ny give alot away, nice chap mind.

He used to rolling road MOT 977l in the 1380/1430 days.

Well this is what i have been looking to do in the last few months,

I have managed to get a crank trigger wheel and i will be running the T28 that is on mine now i would like to get an iron head so warping is no real problem, then i will have inejction with a small manifold and big plenum and big cooler.
i have been speaking with Kenb elder in Oz about his head and he can make bigger combustion chambers and ports too.

my bottom end is strong, custome rforged pistone with high pins for lower cr 4 bolt steel main, kent cam etc, its been in for about 5 years now on 18psi so its good enough.

the big part is getting the head..... i wont one and will pay good money for a good one.

179hp on 12psi 1293cc of pure A series
14.0et @101 mph
