First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

why is my car trying to overheat itself at the first oppotunity?

im running a minispares super 2 core radiator, 74degree thermostat with a selection of holes in it, water cooled t2, no heater.

the gauge slowly moves up and up until it gets just under the top of the scale on my gauge and i kill it, im not driving it hard cos im running it in, the gauge isnt faulty and the thermostat opens, there doesnt appear to be any airlocks

please someone help, i want to get it run in before mitp

How have you plumbed in your turbo?

Circulation of hot water back into the bottom hose could be the problem?

mine actually cools better like that, i guess its with the overdose of coolant and the increased waterflow thats created, it runs hotter with the heater, only slightly though.

ah, i have one going from the heater end of the head to the turbo, and the other running into where the heater used to go into the bottom hose, i.e. my turbo take the place of the heater

interestingly i just to the car back to my dads at 8.30am and the car didnt go above 5/8ths of the gauge!admittedly i didnt stop in any traffic, but can ambient temperature make such a difference?

gonna put in an electric fan today just incase

nick, try looping the water outlet of the turbo straight into your top hose/rad at least this way the hot water will be cooled before it goes back round your block etc. I know fiesta rst's have their turbo water outlet going straight into the rad.

I'm doing something similar although i am not turbo'ed yet, I took a feed from the heater tap end of the head and piped it straight into an extra inlet in the rad. I'll try and remember to take a picture later.

ok, well by adapting an old bottom hose and some extra tight jubilee clips i have managed to make a top hose that has a take off for the turbo,

a long spin around the block and it didnt get over 3/4s and then i got back and attempted to leave it on idle........................which led to my next problem...........

right, my next plan of action was to fit a larger water pump pulley, or if that didnt work an electric water pump.........

.......then it dawned on me that the fan belt could be loose......................oh yes, so it is

no, its still too hot for my liking, with the electric fan on it will keep it just below the hot mark when in traffic, running it calmly on open roads sees it at just over at about 3/4s

grrrrrrrr, is the electric pump the expensive but perfect solution?

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

Lake District

Don't bother with the standard "guessometer" get a proper cappilary temp gauge fitted, then see where you are.

ill try it, got to fix my latest problem though!

i was checking to see if there was flow through the water pipes to the turbo, and when i put them back on i didnt position it quite right, meaning the hose touched on the turbo melting the hose and dumping water everywhere!!

i think the easiest way to fix it willl be to take off the front subframe with the engine in, at least then i can sort out 3 or 4 of the other oil leaks
