I've had a search around here, found plenty of photos but no real figures.

Basically, just how much more room do you get under a clubman front, height and distance forward, to mount intercooler / front rad etc...

The vertical height increase looks quite a lot but is there much additional depth (distance forward) ???

Reason for asking, I'm probably going to flip front mine now I've chopped the rusty steel front off, and I can't decide whether to use the opportunity to convert to clubman....

I would like to put my intercooler above a front rad without the cooling holes that I would then have to have in a roundnose "bonnet".

All the photos seem to suggest this is possible with a clubman front but some actual measurements would help convince me.

My Intercooler and radiator setup is going to be really tight under my clubman front end, but then again my choice of intercooler isnt exactly small!!

Im not sure the front end is longer than the round nose, but as you say the curve of the bonnet on a saloon is the main restriction, the clubman following the bonnet line to the front panel giving the major space advantage!!

I recommned a flip front though, its incredibly easy to work on/get to bits without it on, makes it all a doddle!!

Clubman fronts look the best anyway :)

I'll be fitting my radiator and intercooler soon, so will get some clearence pics and measurements up, I think perhaps the shapes of the flip fronts available vary a bit aswell so it could very well be easier to fit bits in on a different front end.

I wanted to mount my mk1 metro radiator on the subframe, but the standard alternator won't allow it, not to mention there not being much room for the fan to fit behind, thanks to the oil cooler pipes and the less baulky inertia starter.

OK, if any of you kind people could give me these two measurements,

front lip of lower windscreen/bonnet drainage channel to FRONT of slam panel.

top of front subframe front rail to TOP of rear flange on slam panel.

I think those two will best estimate the maximum room inside a fibreglass front, ie, the slam panel wont be there.

Thanks.

Thanks very much Brett and Nick,

I'll order one this afternoon.

That last photo (Nick's) shows just about what I was hoping to be able to do.

Thanks again,

Rod.
