Don't get me wrong, I think hybrids are a good step towards the future vehicle that will be something as-yet undefined, short of a full EV - but the attitude of Prius drivers who purchase these more often to make a smug statement - as it is 'the' recognisable hybrid, rather than other (better in many cases) choices really gets my goat.

So, I don't search for them, but I've seen them smashed up a few times and found it somewhat satisfying...
But I found this whilst looking for something else, and it is simply great - in that aside from an insurance claim, there was no injury and no harm - just a very bent Prius. Ahhhhhhhh *smiley*

Stick that in your smug-pipe and smoke it hippie!

I love it. One thing is the attitude of the drivers/owners. The other aspect is the shear ugliness of that vechicle. Burn!

HA! thats wat you get for having silly low friction tyres!

I dont get this whole Prius thing am I missing something?, whats so good about them?

Ok i assume they have really low carbon emissions, but arn't they not really that good on fuel? like about 45mpg, why not just get one of these new no tax cars like the polo fiat 500 etc?

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Funniest thing about them is that they have a bigger carbon footprint from the manufacturing process and their projected lifespan, than a Jeep Grand Cherokee has!!!!

Isn't actually making and the desposing of the alternative fuel cell safely more environmentally unsafe? That s what I heard at least...

I've just got a Golf Bluemotion. Claims 62.8mpg. Not getting far off it now and its still running in.

In my opinion far superior to the prius.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I thing the strangest location for sellign the Prius, and potentially the smuggest buyers, have to be in the USA... Where fuel is cheap, and the average vehicle gets what, 23 mpg (european gallons). All these folks need to do is buy a smaller car with a smaller engine, and violla - you are making a difference over your silly tahoe / escalade.

One interesting thing about the hybrids, and fair play to Toyota for getting it so right, was to create and market the prius they exact way they did. Remember, it wasn't the first mass-produced hybrid - that was the Honda Insight.

That said - I still have a dislike for them, but reading the above comments, think it's more the owners than the vehicles themselves!

I think using a dynamo as a brake is a good idea though.
