Just a quick back ground on this! My brakes have never really been right, but took it out in the wet tonight and nearly turned it around! woops!!!

I have 0.75 master cylinder with vented 8.4 inch discs with KAD 6 pots on the front, then split of the master cylinder (same feed as fronts) a single line going through my bias adjuster (comp brake knob one) then into KAD rear discs.

For the life of me i just can't stop the rear locking? the adjuster has the knob fully wound in i.e. limiting flow to the rear? Is it my adjuster???? any ideas?

its frustrating me!!!! a lot!!!!

thanks guys!

me to, but mine is just a cut down std "fam123", with a threaded hole at the back…maybe you could cut/switch the spring?

Being as it is all KAD stuff give them a ring. They are very friendly as I'm sure you know.

What pads do you run, are the back ones really soft compared to the front do the fronts need warming up?

Just a thought

Just spoke to KAD, they said i need to buy the highly expensive bias pedal box, which means around £300, which is not really what i am after!

I was thinking if my valve is 0-60% if i put a second valve in would i have 60% of 40%? i.e.

100% - 60% = 40%

second valve

40% - 60% =24%

surely 24% will be enough? Or does anyone know of a valve thats 0-100%?

cheers

I swear i have tried unscrewing it before, but i am going to double check, as robert and nic said this. Maybe its just me being ultra silly and having a serious blonde moment,

must admit it was fun last night, wet road, loads of power and brakes which lock up!!! death trap on wheels! wicked!

just use a homemade one out of an old std mini brake proportion valve. They are 0-100% or close to it.

Hmmm,

I have the same set up except I have a modded mini valve, and have turned the dics down to 8.3" and moved the calipers in accordingly.

Mine seemed fine straigt away, havent even touched the adjuster, IIRC its wound in a couple of turns from fully out, admitedly i have 13's so grip may be different, but jumping on the brakes in a straight line theres no sign of the rears locking up, admitedly i havent jumped on them enough to lock any of the wheels yet, but it stops "quick" :)

I was under the impression that without a bias regulator the braking is somthing like right between the 6 pots and rear disks,

I have the frodo 1144 pads in the front.

is the back of your car particuarly light?

well i tried unscrewing it today and it has made a little improvement, well done me for my blonde moment, but i swear i can still feel the rears locking, maybe it is the valve, maybe its just me being to aggressive with the brake pedal. hmm more testing needed, only had 20 mins today! as for the rear, its carbon floor, carbon shelf, aluminium fuel tank, alu rear arms, alu rear shocks.....a little lighter than usual.....

was out in mine today with andy waller, really nailing the brakes from cold i could get the rears to squirb about a bit, but was better after a few stops.

Fastest A Series Mini in the World

leeds/wakefield.

now then Now then, Tom and myself had a little play with the adj valve on the Don today, its a modified standard item with the screw in the end, and you screw it all the way in to increase rear effort,
the Done went from crap to half decent when the screw was fully out to fully in,
even full reare effort i coud lever the whell into movement

Right time for some sort of conclusion. here goes.......

After my blonde moment, looks like my front pads take a little time to warm up as well. So after all it looks like i was a) being blonde b) not knowing what my car was doing and c) listening to other people (not on here) telling me how to adjust my brakes in the first place! rubbish! well thanks all the same guys, i tihnk its just a case of fine adjustment now!
