Are 1.5 rockers worth fitting to a good spec turbo motor running 266 cam or a Phase 2 with 18psi. I've always used these on my aspirated engines and always got gains but turbo is a new learning curve for me *tongue*

i think this has been talked about a few times a little while back.

the general concensus i think was not much difference.

iain runs 1.5:1's and says they are ok.

however benross (i think) doesnt rate the setup very much.

unsure if anybody has compared the two side by side on the dyno to see though! could be a good thing to learn.

stoke-on-trent

on the advice of ian from avonbar i elected to go for 1.3 ratio roller rockers. he reckoned there was nothing to gain from the higher lift on a forced induction engine and after reading up on the subject on here and a couple of other places i have to agree, although a side by side dyno test would be interesting

Yeah, both Carl and Jimbo have got very powerful turbo-Minis, and they don't use 1.5 rockers..

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

yep not much to gain but much to lose i have found.

the extra pressure on the cam followers has a tendancy to screw up your follwers and cam lobes. in turb extra swarf in sump , in turn knackered oil pump.

both me and mini willy had this problem for years but soon as we went to 1.3 roler tip rockers problem totaly gone.

and t3tone done the comparison test from 1.5 to 1.3 rockers and lost no power what so ever.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

yes! question answerd *smiley* you will gain nothing down below lose in the middle rpm range and gain 3 mouse power at the very top rpm band.

plus the above what hoggy mentioned unless you pay particular attention to spring pressures

we used the porgressive 180 lb springs from minispares, but i recon a lighter spring would have been ok. depending on your rev limit.
