I went out in the freezin cold (the things I do for TM!) and tried it out. Good news is that my VERY local radio station WSTW is not too obtrusive! and I can hear a lot of clattery things going on, The position of the clamps make a lot of difference, some experimentation required here.. I cant imagine how clattery that will get on the mini with SCdrops and weather I'll be able to hear owt but at least I'm trying. (now I'm down 2 sets of pistons!)

I was looking at the links in the post and this one took my eye (cos its cheap?)

http://www.viatrack.ca/

As the MS people are using it maybe its a possibility though again with the mini mechanical noise does that potti go low enough!!

Anyone tried one of these?

I think the PoleStar can be bought with a knock sensor. If anyone has the software they could check what settings are modelled.

I'm pretty sure N.G.L. has a polestart ECU with a knock sensor on his motor but he doesn't post on here very often.

I contacted the guy at knocksense and he is not aware of any Minis using his sensor, but he did offer to let me try one with a return if it does not work out, I think I'll take him up on that.. if only I had an engine thats running!!

So suggestions on how/where to mount the Bosche sensor anyone?? Block is currently on the floor so now is the time!

somewhere between cylinders 2 & 3? the head should be hottest here, and its likely to be the most likely place for det to occur?

I think N.G.L. bolted his the the web between cylinders 2 & 3 inside the block, but it was a long time since I spoke to him and I may well have got it wrong.
