As talked about by me and Andre(i think? sorry if thats wrong) minimor63

Just interested to see who would be interested in a group buy on a custom cages roll cage.

i know its quite a limited one but just to see if anyone or how many people would be interested is all.

cage can be seen here.
http://www.customcages.co.uk/Rollcage/Load...type=Multipoint

havent contacted them yet as if there is only the two of us that are going to buy one then it will be pointless to watse theirs and my time trying to sort something out. because of this i dont know what sort of discount we would get just yet.

if there are enough people involved then i will get the wheels in motion but dont panic, it wont be untill a few months after the dreaded christmass!!

I'd really like to say i'm in for one of the the GPA or mig ones.

Id have to get one in kit form which I guess you'd have to assemble inside the car, I cant weld so its a bit out of the question for me unfortunately!

The bars going through the heelboard and the ones going through the rear bulkhead, where do they go to?

oops sorry guys linked to the wrong part of the website. ive sorted it now and would be the miglia cage.

the normal price is £603 and it is fully notched ready to put in place and weld in.

jims/andywallers pics of their rollcages are a good way of seeing roughly what happens with the bars. different cages but same sort of thing. (i'll find a link)

price wise, i am not sure of what sort of discount we would get yet as i said in the first post.

EDIT:
link to andy's build.

Rich: might be able to help you out mate *wink* put me up for a weekend and i might be able to sort it!

just been pointed out to me that the dotted lines on the website are an optional package.

when asked the guy wasnt too sure on the price aparently but said they are around £70.

i will find out about an option on this aswell.

righto.

managed to get some info on this yesterday.

2 people = 10% discount

5 people = 20% discount

6 or more = 25% discount

the optional packages i am still trying to find out a price on but i should have that by next weekend.

the discount will be on total price so it doesn't matter whether you have a T45, CDS, with or with the options.

we would be aiming to be completing around the end of May so as to give everyone some time.

please put your name - cage material - whether you want an options package. you still have time to change your mind if you see fit!

so here goes the list!

1. James_H - Undecided - Yes

EDIT: changed the completion.

ok, chatting to andre it looks like end of may will be the best time.

so final date. End of may!

get those piggy banks ready!

Just 3 more people for a 25% discount!

thats a £153.25 saving on just a CDS cage without the options! the savings can only go up from there!!

so that makes it £528.71 including VAT. no notching required. just line them up and weld them in!

I'm a bit confused; I understand that the offer is only for the miglia cage?

Is joey jerking off to much that he didn't notice since he wants a normal historic? *laughing*

And then about the welding; how do you weld the bars at the roof. It seems like there's not enough room to do the welding unless you cut of the roof?

it is really for the miglia spec cage but i will email them to see if we can include joey's choice. i'll tell them he is a "special" child.

the general thing to do (if not cutting the roof and sometimes even if you do chop the roof out) is to chop a few inches off of the feet of the cage to gain access to the hard to reach bits. then you lift the cage up and it is mounted on "blocks"

anton: i dont think i have ever seen a cage for an estate/van? and judging by thier site they aren't breacking any moulds :( i will ask in one of my emails for you.
