LoL dont worry they aint wiping so fast that there on fire!

Its the wiper motor, it smokes!! Ive unplugged it to stop it.
Taken it apart, and oil/water seems to be in the little white box underneath it. Just cleaning it up now. Any tips on what it could be?

It smells like burning wires, but cant see any melted etc.

PS wipers run slow, and needed constant force downwards on the stick to get the to "once wipe"

it wont be the mechanical innards, it will be corrosion within the leccy socket on the wiper

Mine set on fire a couple of weeks ago, ended up shorting, melting the connector body on the wiper, stank the car out, and you have to buy a whole wiper motor to fix it as you cant get the socket separately :(

could be the rack binding up from poor lubrication, causing the motor to overheat. either way to solve all the above replace/regrease the motor, rack and all fittings inbetween :) abd the park switch, obviously. :)

Wow, good reponces guys!! Well I think its a little of both lack of grease on the bits, and oil/water corrosion. I took the white block apart, cleaned it up good and proper. No smoke!!! YEY!! But still goes slow. So going to get a new motor.

Where do you grease/lube the wiper system up?

If you take off your wipers, undo the not around the spindle then the tube and wheels should drop out under the scutle. I parked my mini up for a few weeks and I noticed the wipers weren't working and the motor was getting hot. After freeing up the wheels and the tube and lubing it all up it was fine.
