I have aquired what appears to me a metro turbo short block, the bores stil have the origional honeing marks and are mint, it has the turbo pistons(googled the part number) however it has the CAM6232 crank, thought turbo engines had different cranks? not to bothered as its mint. jsut curious!

also, where about can i source piston rings for he turbo pistons? at most reasonable cost? cheers :)

Near Lincoln

from what i read in the past i think early turbo engines had the en40b cranks in, but i'm not sure what part number is, and i also don't know when it was they stopped using the en40b material?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

it was only early engines that had the en40 cranks (well supposedly). later ones didnt. not really needed.

think std turbo rings are unavailable.

"think std turbo rings are unavailable"

crap. would have jsut thrown them back in the bores as-is. but the person whom sold me the block snapped a compression ring when they inspected it :(

Anyone know otherwise?

ok, found this on the total seal website: -

car..........................................bore...cyl. ring groove size

METRO,MG TURBO,ALLEGRO, 80-ON 2.780 4 1/16 1/16 5/32

This implies the turbo and normal rings are the same. can anyone confirm this b4 i go foneing around for a set of rings? as mor eplaces wil have "normal" std rings id imagine!

Cheers.

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

You will find some Turbo engines with cranks numbered 6581, these seem to be harder wearing than their 6232 counterparts.
