Alright All, as some of you might have read in prvious topics, I have brought a Metty turbo complete engine off ebay a while ago, presuming it was a complete genuine item.

Turns out its not, it's been chuffed about with, alot. So after realising this I'm just double checking parts to ensure the build should go back together as well as possible.

The distributor has confused me thou, alot. The Part code is;

-Auu1081 2003 42628h 2187

After searching on here I've read this is the metro turbo dizzy, but this is where it gets confusing. It uses a late cooper carb dizzy cap an arm. from what I have seen the metro dizzy should use a rotor arm similar to 54D etc?

So to recap, the Dizzy is right, but it uses this arm and cap

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=37135

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=36504

Apposed to the rotor arm and cap that should be fitted

Anybody shed any light on it? Or does anybody know if I am alright to use this set up? Assuming the Dizzy has the correct advance etc

Tom

Anybody shed any light on this???

well assuming the base of the dizzy has all the original gubbins in it and that no is the metty turbo one, it wont matter about the cap and arm as long as they fit ok.

So perhaps this is why M1nieu sent me a PM asking me to delete his account...!

Anyway onto the dizzys, I'm not super hot on the numbers, I thought that the early Mk1 metro used a 59D with an external seperate ign module.

The Mk2 metro used a 65D (I think) which is the later type dizzy as used on all Minis from carb-Cooper onwards, so from about 1991. This has the small black ign module mounted on the side of the dizzy body. On the Metro it was used earlier to this, maybe 1988-ish? In any case those part links look fine.
