Hi,

Cut the lip off the front my twin cam bonnet today, and fitted it back on. However the middle and towards the passenger side of the bonnet sticks out past the slam panel. The drives side is a perfect fit, so its annoying me (i like things perfect). Has anybody else had this trouble with these type bonnets?

Also whilst im here, what would be best to use to bond some hinge brackets on to the bonnet?

Cheers, Oli.

Mines a TDK but i specified it would be mk1. If your that bothered Dave will make one a tad thicker for you.

Yeah, just ask him. Or I can if you want.

All he will do is make it a tad thicker and cut the lip off. Thats what i did anyways.

You would have to do that ureself mate.

If i were needing the hinges i would get some angle iron and get some fibreglass filler/sheets from my local motor factor and glue that on.

If you use fibreglass to stick some brackets on the heat from cureing could distort the skin. I had this problem once with a GRP bonnet.
Id use something like Sikaflex

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

went and seen him today, and he said tdk, so im guessing i may have made a slightly shitty job of cutting the lip off. So im going to have a play, and reshape the edge slightly.

I guess you're right. If he brought it from TDK, I guess he bought it there as well.

Well after 5 hours of fettling, cutting, fibreglassing, fillering, and sanding, it fits perfect. So im happy with it.

Not all bad, only gave him £15 for it.
