forgetting vernier and sticking with a normal duplex kit, could it be lightened any further than the lightened version you can buy?

1. standard duplex
2. lightened duplex
3. possible further lightening??

You could possibly get away with joining every 2 holes together to make 4 slots but why not buy the Swifty alloy centre set or the MED all alloy set?

I seriously doubt it!

The Swifty one is quite cheap, not sure about the MED one though

So what do you achieve by lightening this a further 29 grammes?

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Number 3 is a definate NO! Just asking for breakage.

Stick #2 in a lathe and reduce the inner "shoulder" of the sprocket rim.

Put a chamfer on the sharp corner near the edge, thats what i do when im lightening the standard ones. (attulay thats what he said^^)

I dont think id risk the 4 slot approch tho.

changing the subject slightly, i've been looking at the MED all alloy set, and been offered the minispeed vernier belt drive kit for the same price, so belt or chain? (chain noise is not an issue, changing belts not an issue either)
