this isnt really mini related, trying to work out what engine this is off. looks like it takes a single HS2 carb, the inlets are 9.5" apart. its not even symmetrical which is interesting. any ideas would be much appreciated. |

I'm guessing off some pre-war factory supercharged car. They wouldn't go to all that trouble with the cooling fins for no reason. On 24th Dec, 2008 Nic said:

Vintage motorbike is my guess. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

Pretty sure AWDmoke has got it right - might even be as early as 20,s, but definitely from a supercharged installation. |

I doubt it's off any sidevalve, it would hang out the side too much, iirc the sidevalves used a solex and it stood upright, not on its side as this looks to do,

I was speculating about it being a manifold for a supercharged engine, but I accept your points re the original equipment -I worked on enough of them at the time !. |

i think its off a bike, which would explain why its off centre, so that the float bowl doesnt hit your knee. Still not got a definite answer though.
