i notice there are four bolt holes on the block , would it be any advantage to use them as the pump could have the holes drilled, eg more even disrubution of clamping over the gasket

The search button has thrown up this as the most likely answer, but it doesn't exactly answer my question:
I'm putting my engine back together and when offering up the oil pump, there is a recess in the edge of the pump which uncovers a hole through the to the block internals - is this correct?

Although I have been told elsewhere this is right, it just seems a bit odd.
I believe the pump is a turbo item, supplied as part of a Swiftune SW5i kit.
Sod's law - I can't locate the old, original oil pump the compare.
Thanks.

They all have that bit cut out. At least every oil pump I've come across has done I think

So, the fact that the hole goes right through to the block, which could allow oil in to the area of the clutch is correct?
I'm sure when I offered up the pump the holes were offset, so the pump could only be fitted one way.
Just want to be sure this is right before I fit any more bits.

The gasket has the cut out too, I'm not sure if it's there to dribble oil down over the drop gears or whatever but it's completely separated from the clutch by the crank seal.

Ahh, that makes sense.
This is my first engine build and this didn't look right. I didn't want to plough ahead only to have to strip it down again!
Thanks.
