Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Tom, which pickup did you use from RS and how did you end up mounting it?

I am wondering on how to go about doing mine.

I had a theory that maybe putting it on the back wheel would sort of give traction control. i.e. if the front wheels are going at what should be a 2nd gear speed yet the back are at a 1st it would reduce boost.

Or would the emerald not be happy with that? i.e. revs and wheel speed not in sync.

I'll have the latest version of emerald ecu the same as your using tom but havent got it yet so not sure what it needs.

Also what soleniods were you using? NJ75? i heard these dont bleed off all that much boost? i'm guessing i'll want to bleed around 10spi off is possible, something like 6psi off the line and 16psi+ in 3rd and 4th.

At the minute its a nightmare but i'm hoping that the quaife will take up a lot and i'll most likely have some slicks on if the class allows (and so does my bank balance!)

TBH the one we used hasn't been very good, we've bust two so I'm on the lookout for something better.

Not sure on your idea about putting on the back, Karl at Emerald is the man to ask about the traction control stuff, we've never used it.

Solenoid is a boost control v/v, it doesn't so much bleed boost as meters it through to the actuator, any will do, I think the one on DON is off a Volvo, plenty on ebay from different makes and models to choose from.

A friend of mine uses a Adaptronic ECU for his R5. That uses a sensor on the back wheel, so that when launch control is used it cuts out when the rear wheels see 3mph. I dont know if the Emerald can do something similar.

Map boost with TPS or RPM instead to give more linear power delivery ?

Surely the Emerald could do this ?

Turbosmart's E-Boost can map boost via RPM, gear, speed, various items if you wanted.
You'd still need some sort of pickup though.
Undriven wheelspeed shouldnt be too hard to obtain though with a suitable steel trigger and sensor.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Iain, I'm using my wheel speed sensor on the rear of the car as I had the same thought as you. The emerald can as stevice said map boost against rpm and tps.

I use the n75 valve from a VAG engine, I find it can blead around 15psi at the moment. My plan is to get another and plumb them in batch mode, so I can bleed of twice as much boost if I need to. I got my sensor from RS, I'll dig out the part number for you.

That looks similar to the type we used on the DON, except the DON one was 8mm diameter.
