Evening Chaps.

In wickes earlier and saw this epoxy adhesive, would it be any good to bond fibreglass to metal with out breaking under fair amounts of force?

Said on the packet in the shop that it bonds metals, hard plastics so i couldnt see any reason why not?

Cheers, Oli.

carefull on the type of sikaflex you buy. i'll have to double check which one it is but some are utter cack!

at work we fit windscreens etc, and have bond for that......its TOP notch stuff but dont think you can get it in seperate tubes, boxes of six only :(

i get the name of that tomorrow and maybe you can see if you can get it?

although after writing all of that tiger-seal is definately up to the job so ive just wasted my time writing this post....

try Loctite 9461. This stuff is proper structural adhesive. It comes in a big syringe and is 1:1 mix ratio, so you can get away without the applicator gun etc. You can squeeze out just what you need.

I forgot to say i've used tons of this stuff to put together fibre glass, carbon and a range of metals. Its a creamy mixture so not messy and great for small gap filling and slightly uneven surfaces.

Its really strong yet it has a tiny amount of give so it isn't brittle like normal epoxies and this helps give it good peel resistance.
