I just kerbed my fucking alloy trying to get round one of the bastard things in salisbury, and still thumped the exhaust.

My car isn't particularly low either.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

nope, no problems here. i recently raised my mini up a bit as the wheels were rubbing the arch's and it was sitting on the bump stops, even then i didnt have trouble with speed bumps.

your problem sounds like a poorly fitted exhaust. i cut a section out the down pipe so the link pipe is in the tunnel and i dont have a centre box

The centre section of the the exhaust is pretty inline with the rest of under body, doesn't sit much more then 1/2 an inch below the floor.

The rear silencer hangs down a bit more but that only has problems clearing lumps of mud or big branches.

stoke-on-trent

i find my daily drive is ok on the ones that go all the way accross the road, but I cant get over the other ones without grounding and thats with standard suspension.

i was always smacking the 2" clamp on my lcb, the dam thing would only ever stay sealed for a month at a time,
however i got my turbo manifold and a single box 2" system off a block on ebay for free, heed choped about 3" off the manifold so it sat REALLY high in the tunel and also had a internal gear change, that would seem to be the answer

if the speed bumps are the full road type then i normally use the pavement, grass, kurbs or just go diagonaly, if thayre the lumps in the road type then its either zip inbetween them or bite the bullet and put the passenger wheel over the centre of it

i once had a hydrospastic mini with 145/10 tyres, on my way home one of the displacers poped going over a speed bump and i had to drive home with it leaning to one side.

i replaced the displacer but wondered what it would look like slammed on the floor so i let the other side down before driving it to a garage to have it pumped up, now that was low!

i just try and go diagonally over them slowly, tho i still beat the Y- piece off back in the summer on one, the wankers at my local sports centre had changed the speed humps (bolt to the road type ones) but they were higher and looked the same.
got some funny looks drving home with just my lcb!

We have got some around MK that fit between the front and rear wheels so you drop on top of them :( now that hurts.
So i dont go anywere near them.
We also have a school that you wont get a mini into due to the type of speed bump on its entrance.
no wonder all the mums drive 4x4's

Theres a place near me called parkstone where my mate lives, theres like 8 between his house and the main road, havent seen him for aages. lol
Also i found the really big ones just in the middle of each carriageway (eg one each side of the road) i could fit inbetween them with 12's and boot it all the way down the road, but now on 7x13s and i have to diagonal it.

i dont have any issues, but my car sits waay off the bump stops with standard dampers and cones, internal gear linkage with the exahsut tucked right up in the tunel :) looks quite monster truck-ish but can go anywehre and the ride is smooth. :)

There are loads around my local area.

my mini is standard height with 13x7 wheels. shocks are wound right up though.

My other mini the black one with a body kit. thats lowered down a fair bit.

its lowered to the point where the body work would just start to rub on the wheels at the back, if it hadent had its arches tubbed and its level from there.

i got quite good at going over speed bumps in a certain rythem without slowing down too much when driveing that car. i miss driveing it now :( but roll on the new year and its sva test and it should be on the road again!

To go over speed bumps you would have to swing sideways over the big ones and go in the middle of the other ones still quite slowly.

elsewise a certain rythem of braking and throttle in 2nd gear go you over them quite quickly without any dramatics.

I have serious problems with low cars down my road. I just learned to live with it but the same ride height it scrapes badly on my centre box as i go into work. So instead the Mini lives at work instead of driving it there to work on it!
