Just got roped into helping a friend with fitting a supercharger to his mini. He's potty & I'm not far behind him....LoL

I am an electronics engineer, He's a painter & decorator, so we're well qualified for this sort of thing.

Actually, it should be a bit of fun as he wants to fit a Roots styles blower & I want to fit a centrifugal. He wants to run his off of the crank pulley & I want to run it off of an electric motor.

Yes.....you're not wrong, it is his much loved mini we are chatting about, but if he is daft enough to involve a partly crippled, mentally defective, 50-ish engineer in his fantasy, then that's his lookout...ho hum.

Well I hope to find lots of really useful info here, or then again possibly not, as the case may be.

Just so long as everyone else is having fun………

Welcome, the above sounds very familiar *happy*

Sounds just as mad as most of us on here -best of luck with it.

Dont like centrifugal compressors, they blow harder and harder until something goes bang, often, and have even less low rev torque than a turbo .

Insanity is sorta the mantra around here and tbh the longer you work on minis the wores it gets.

whichever you chose you are going to need an electric motor of significant power.

Eaton have done some work on electric chargers, they had what looked like 3 stater motors strapped to them.
