I ordered a pre-vetro diaphragm clutch kit some time ago, I am just getting around to install it and the release bearing is different. Did I get one for a Metro or am I supposed to press out that center thing? I figured I would ask before I destroyed the bearing.

OR does anyone have a new release bearing they can measure for me? I would like to know what the ID is. The bearing I have is .010" smaller than the plunger, not sure if that is too much interference.

Hi Mike,
You need to remove the threaded section to re use in your new bearing - you should be able to drift the middle out of it.
However you new bearing also looks odd as it should not have that collar poking out of it. Pre verto should look like this

That collar is what messed me up. It is just pressed into the bearing, if I were to press it out, the bearing would look like the one you posted. I think that is what I need to do.

Thanks

You currently have the original style

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=...%20BEARING-HE...

If you click one "alternatives" you will see the newer type but, as Scruffy says, it shouldn't have a stubshaft in it...

EDIT - if you search the catalogue, there are also two different versions of the plunger (two different PRE-verto that is). It doesn't actually say what the difference is but might be your 10thou ???

I believe I got the release bearing for this plunger.

PLUNGER A+ PRE VERTO METRO CLUTCH ONLY CEASE WHEN SOLD DAM5262 clutch bearing plunger for pre verto A plus engines on the METRO mini only.

But I cant find the actual bearing for the Metro listing anywhere. If I could I believe it should look like mine.

That would explain it, the Mini ones have a short stubshaft that the bearing pushes over, not a hole for it to push into.

You need to press the bearing off your old plunger to see what shape the plunger is - bearing in mind the age of most of your parts, I doubt if it's that one !!!

Also, as per ministef1, I have stuck with the older design (I have a single grey), even to the extent of re-greasing and using an old one as I couldn't get a new one of the old design at the time.
