I fitted an electric shower 6months ago when I bought my house, when installed it worked a treat, Ive not moved in yet so it has had no use until this eve when cleaning in prep for moving. when trying to use it to rinse the bath it wouldnt produce any hot water, popped the cover off to check it and found there is a diapram type actuator which connects to two switches which switch the heaters. I believe my water pressure is less than what it when I installed it, causing the problem. My next door neighbour has mentioned something about poor water pressure in our road a while ago. Does anyone know of a way I can remidee this? is it possible to fit a pump to increase the supply pressure, something like what is used on a power shower? Sorry if this seems a stupid question to as.
Any insight / help appreciated.
Cheers
Shane

Are you sure it's plumbed to the mains cold feed and not to a cold feed from the strorage tank ?

Although mains pressure varies everywhere (usually dependant on how far you are from the pumping station) it is unusual for it to be too low to operate the safety switch(s) in a direct heating shower.

If it is that low, contact your authority - there is (or certainly used to be) a legal mimimum pressure they have to maintain to prevent contamination entering the system.

Mite sound daft but is the main or even inline valve fully open?

Pretty sure its in the main feed, as it comes up from the kitchen into the bath room, then to the storage tank. but saying that I just used the feed that was used the feed that fed the existing shower. All valves are fully open. When I get time Ill take the panel of the bath and check. If it is the pressure, and I report it to my authority, what actually can they do?

A quick Google shows that every Water Authority must declare and publish it's "Guaranteed Standards Scheme". One standard is minimum pressure at the "communication pipe" (ie, where it enters your house).

The legal minimum is (a surprisingly low) 0.7bar but it appears most authorities' GSS is higher than the legal minimum.

They have to compensate you if they don't meet their declared GSS.

Go to their website and look for the GSS (are you Anglian Water or Essex & Suffolk?) ...

Remember you will have to deduct the physical height of the shower above the entry point from the GSS figure before comparing it to the shower's minimum requirement (deduct 0.1bar for every metre of height).
